How to plan an outdoor Super Bowl watch party in DFW

Super Bowl LXI is Sunday, February 14, 2027. An outdoor party needs a screen that reads before sunset, sound for the commercials, a weather plan, and the right name on the flyer.

Super Bowl LXI is on Sunday, February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. For an outdoor party in Dallas–Fort Worth, that means an LED screen that reads before sunset, sound loud enough for the commercials and the halftime show, a plan for a cold or windy evening, and calling it a “Big Game” party in anything you advertise.

When does it start, and why LED?

Last season’s Super Bowl LX kicked off at 6:30 PM Eastern, which is 5:30 PM in Dallas. If LXI keeps that slot, kickoff comes about 40 minutes before the 6:11 PM sunset in Dallas on February 14. The pregame party and the first quarter happen in daylight, when a projector image washes out. An LED screen stays sharp in direct sun and through the night.

Who can host a showing, and what can you call it?

A party for your own residents, members, or employees is the simplest case. Public showings are different, so settle these before you promote anything:

  • Don’t charge admission. Copyright lawyers advise that no fee be charged to watch the game.
  • Call it a “Big Game” party. The NFL objects to unauthorized advertising that refers to the Super Bowl, including sponsor credits on a “Super Bowl” party. Advertisers say “The Big Game” instead. The league tried to register that phrase and abandoned the application.
  • Churches. In 2008 the NFL said churches could show the game live on a screen of any size, as long as admission is free and the showing is on premises the church uses routinely. Earlier rules had capped church screens at 55 inches. Church-law guidance reads the permission as covering the church's own audiovisual equipment, not rented gear, so a church planning a rented screen should ask its attorney first, or use the screen for a different game or a movie night. Confirm the current policy before you advertise.
  • Bars and restaurants. A business with the right public performance license can show the broadcast to its customers, but advertising it as a “Super Bowl” party draws objections from the league. Check with your provider whether a screen in the parking lot is covered before you book.

When you send a booking request, tell us who the party is for and how you’ll promote it, and we’ll flag anything worth checking.

Plan for February weather

A mid-February evening outdoors can turn cold and windy after dark. Put the screen where a building blocks the north wind, set up patio heaters and a warm-drinks table, and have a covered spot or a room inside ready in case guests want to move in for the second half.

Our Weather Reschedule covers lightning and high wind. Most events can move to any open date within 12 months, but the game can’t move. So if the call comes before the halfway point, you can take a refund of everything but the deposit instead.

How big a screen, and what about sound?

Most neighborhood and church Super Bowl parties fit a 16′ × 9′ screen ($3,750), which works for crowds up to about 1,500. A smaller backyard or courtyard party can use a 12′ × 7′ ($2,750). The screen size planner sizes it from your head count.

The commercials and the halftime show are part of the draw, so the sound has to carry. Pro sound ($395) adds speakers, a mixer, and a wireless mic for the halftime raffle. With guests arriving well before kickoff, four hours of show time goes fast, so plan on an extra hour ($250).

Sponsors and the halftime loop

An HOA or apartment community can sell a few sponsor slides to local realtors, restaurants, and builders to cover the screen. Run them before kickoff, during the halftime setup, and after the final whistle, and keep the NFL’s marks off them: “Big Game party presented by…” works, and “Super Bowl party sponsored by…” is what the league objects to. Send us logos, or add sponsor loop design for $295 and we’ll build up to 10 slides. The sponsor guide has tier prices.

Quick answers

When is Super Bowl LXI?

Sunday, February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Can we call our event a Super Bowl party?

On flyers, posts, and sponsor slides, call it a Big Game party. The NFL objects to unauthorized advertising that refers to the Super Bowl, and the league dropped its attempt to register The Big Game as a trademark.

Can a church show the game on a big screen?

In 2008 the NFL said churches could show the game live on a screen of any size, as long as admission is free and it’s on premises the church uses routinely. Confirm the current policy before you promote a public showing.

What if the weather is bad on game day?

If lightning or high wind cancels the event and the call comes before the halfway point, you can take a refund of everything but the deposit, because the game can’t move to another date.

What does an outdoor Super Bowl screen cost?

A 16′ × 9′ LED screen is $3,750 with four hours of show time, delivery, setup, onboard power, and a technician. With an extra hour ($250) and pro sound ($395), it’s $4,395 before tax.
