Outdoor Events in Garland

Garland rebuilt the square as a gathering place, and about 10,000 people came to the reopening party. Since then it has hosted Fall Fest on the Square and Día de los Muertos, and Christmas on the Square brings Santa photos and train rides for kids.

Beyond downtown, Garland runs from the Firewheel area in the north to Lake Ray Hubbard along its eastern edge. Most of the city is in Garland ISD, where a graduation overflow screen or a pep rally fits on a practice field.

Planning an Outdoor Event in Garland

Downtown Garland Square is the city’s event space, and the Firewheel area anchors the north side.

A public park or street usually needs a special event permit from the City of Garland, often 30 to 90 days ahead. Private property, such as a church lot or an HOA amenity center, usually doesn’t. More in the permit guide.
